"33" dinner
Recently I had dinner with my good friend and mentor/big sister DW. We met up at "33" as she is staying at her sister's while her home is being renovated. I figured a place by BACK BAY "T" station and Commuter Rail is right there. I had to do a key drop off before meeting up with DW which in terms of timing worked out wonderfully!
I never had dinner at "33" and the last time I was there was with Miss Felicia whom I miss terribly. We always did brunch, restaurant and lounge/bar hopping. She was my cohort in crime to talk about a myraid of things. She is very smart, Tufts grad, with a killer sense of style and great friend whom I miss terribly. (Luckily I got to see her twice last year!).
Back to dinner at "33" we went on a Thursday night (very chilly) the bar area was hopping with a networking event. We took a table by the wall. The service was attentive. I enjoyed our amuse bouche of a sliver of a chicken lumpia. My friend DW loved it. I enjoyed it but was not wowed though. We decided to have the $33 prefixe menu. (Why not?)
First Course
Dipped Fried Crab Croquette - with vine tomato soup
My friend and I enjoyed the croquette and the soup hit the spot as it was a cold evening.
Second Course
Cajun Spiced Talapia - with smoked corn relish and shrimp gumbo
Or Grilled Chicken Breast - with chicken sausage jambalaya
The Talapia was great topped with two big pieces of jumbo shrimp. Not over cooked and they did a great job. As for the chicken, I enjoyed it but the sausage was what I really liked.
Third Course
Peach Cobbler - with vanilla ice cream
This dish took forever to come out. When we got it we both preferred the ice cream over the dessert itself.. I rarely never not finish my dessert but this time I did not finish it. The peach cobbler was too sweet but the crust was nice. I did finish that one.
