Recently I had brunch with the gals in Dorchester. I must admit, when I got to FIELDS CORNER I hit the Vietnamese places other than going there for brunch. I LOVE Zaftigs (in Coolidge Corner) for their great matzo balls in chicken noodle soup, banana stuffed french toast with rum butter, stupendous corned beef hash (the best I ever tasted) etc etc.
But I have to admit it is nice to pay under $10 for brunch especially when other places charge more.
Blarney Stone 1509 Dorchester St., Dorchester. 617-436-8223
We all got some reasonably priced food with nothing topping $9 and prices starting at $5 for brunch dishes. I got the Corned Beef Hash with two eggs (soft cooked) for $5 and my friends got the Pancakes with berries (blue berry and strawberry) $6 and my other friend got the Apple Cinnamon Pancakes. The portions were good, the wait staff was attentive and friendly. We had an enjoyable time and spent $10 a piece (no coffee or juice was ordered) .
